Channel 5 set to axe Big Brother?

It’s the news we never wanted to hear, but unfortunately, several sources are reporting that Channel 5 does not intend to renew its contract with Endemol Shine UK to air the UKs original reality show, following the upcoming civilian and celebrity run in summer 2018.

The Daily Star reported that Channel 5 look set to ‘pull the plug’ amidst falling ratings.

The show started off life back in 2000 on rival UK network, Channel 4. In 2011, the show moved to Channel 5 after it was dropped by Channel 4. It has in recent years come under much criticism from fans who feel the show has deviated too far from the original premise.

Channel 5 has not yet responded to our request for comment, promising further information ‘ASAP’. What is, unfortunately, telling is that they have not moved to immediately dismiss the request – whether we are reading too much into that, remains to be seen.
