Poland and Finland revive Big Brother

Big Brother will be returning to Poland and Finland after an extended hiatus, Endemol Shine Group has confirmed.

In Poland the show will return to its original home on TVN, where it was first launched in 2001. The show had previously switched to TV4 between 2007-2008.

Endemol Shine Poland will be producing the revived series which will air in spring 2019 on TVN7.

In Finland, Nelonen Media will be reviving the series after a five-year break and will air on Jim and Ruutu channels in the autumn.

The Finnish version will be produced by Endemol Shine Finland.

2019 will mark 20 years since Big Brother made its worldwide debut in the Netherlands.

There are currently 28 productions of the show airing across 21 territories in 2018.

The show was axed by UK network Channel 5 in September 2018.

Endemol Shine Group chief executive of Creative Networks Lisa Perrin said 2019 will be a “milestone year” for Big Brother.

“It’s proven that this format engages audiences around the world and our talented teams in Poland and Finland are enthusiastic about bringing it bang up to date for the age of social media”

CBS will launch its second celebrity version of the format on January 21st in the United States.
